Non-Sport Volunteer Opportunities
Admin Volunteer
Special Olympics NWT programs require administrative volunteers to ensure our programs run efficiently. Our admin volunteers can fulfill their volunteer obligation remotely by monitoring the admin email and attendance app from their fingertips! Your role helps ensure we have the appropriate number of volunteers in place to meet our athlete-volunteer ratios. As an admin volunteer, you act as a key link between the volunteers, parents/guardians and Special Olympics NWT staff. If you think this role would be a good fit for you, email: sport@sonwt.ca
Event Volunteer
If you just have a few hours to give throughout the year, then an event volunteer would be perfect for you. Event volunteers help out at our specific events during the year.
Special Olympics NWT hosts fundraising and community events throughout the year. The events operate because of all the volunteer support. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, make a difference and have a fun time!
Our current annual fundraisers include:
- FreezinForAReason Polar Plunge
- Pick-A-Chick
If you want to support Special Olympics NWT (SONWT) in a non-sport manner, we are looking for some helping hands. Giving back to SONWT you get self fulfillment, support and appreciation. Your effort and time is surely noticed because we are a small organization. Non-sport volunteers support SONWT and athletes in numerous ways.
Examples may include:
- Taking pictures at the sport programs and events
- Collecting cans and bottles, and donating the earned money at the Yellowknife Bottle Deport using the drop and go system
- Fundraise and donate to SONWT
If you have an idea or interest in supporting Special Olympics NWT, please send an email to Sport Program Coordinator: sport@sonwt.ca. We look forward to hearing from you.
